Neighborhood Stabilization Program meeting outcome

I am extremely thankful, excited and encouraged by the 103 residents and “STAKEHOLDERS” who gave of your time last Saturday morning, before Christmas, to express your opinion on LWW’s name being associated with the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP). I truly appreciate your active participation in voicing your opinion on matters affecting our community. I hope that you will continue your involvement by attending more meetings and volunteering with one of the committees working to make LWW the best community in Bibb County to live and raise a family.

You have overwhelmingly expressed your desire not to have our name associated with this program by a vote of 72 to 31. Again, I thank you for your participation and vote. There will be future issues where you will be needed to repeat this type of performance; hopefully with an even greater turnout.

In a prior message I advised many board members of the County Chief Administrative Officer’s (CAO) request for written documentation of the vote outcome at the earliest convenience. The vote count sheet will be submitted to the front office (12/23/2008) in support of the letter to be prepared and forwarded by the board of directors to the Bibb County CAO. I look forward to your continued support as issues come up that impact our community.

“TOGETHER WE CAN”!!!

THE BEST OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON TO YOU ALL AND YOUR FAMILIES!!!

Early Voting!

Early voting at the Board of Elections, Pio Nono and Eisenhower Parkway, started Monday and will continue until Wednesday, November 26 for the U.S. Senate run-off election. TOGETHER WE CAN!!!

October 15 minutes

Thanks to Judy Dziadual for preparing meeting minutes for our initial meeting. And thanks to Ann Black for hosting.

The notes fairly reflect what happened during the meeting with the exception of my vision. My vision is that the committee’s two major functions will be internal and external election activity and information sharing. We have had activity in both functions during the past few months. We have begun preliminary discussions of the by-laws for the board of directors election and future actions to be taken. We have had political forums, voter registration and logistical support for election day poll set up and election day operation.

THANKS TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS THAT HAVE SUPPORTED ELECTION COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES TO DATE. WE HOPE TO HAVE YOUR SUPPORT IN THE FUTURE AS WE WORK TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL LWW RESIDENTS. TOGETHER WE CAN!!!

================================
Mtg was held Oct 15,2008 at the Clubhouse.
Present: Ann Black, Judy Dziadul, Wayne Fuller, Norm Brown and Fred Copely. 5 O’clock
Norm shared the things he had learned in studying the by-laws that pertain to voting.
1 that notice of annual mtg must be sent to all eligible voters not more than 40 days and not less than 15 days before said meeting
That the secretary of the Board, Stuart Griffin is the person responsible to give us a list of all Members on deed and paid up on their fees eligible to vote.
We discussed how we can have votes counted the day before the elections or at least in a timely and fair manner.

We respectfully ask the following:
1. We would like the date for the annual mtg asap.
2. We would request that our Board send out written notice of Annual Mtg to eligible voting members as close to 40 days before voting as possible so we can have an open forum to meet and ask questions of the eligible members running for office. We hope this will make our residents more interested and excited about being a part of the election process that runs our community.
3. We request in accordance with bylaw article5 sec 9:b, that Stuart Griffin give us the list of eligible voters in good standing no later than March 10th.
4. We want to know who will verify the eligibility of the candidates running for the Board of Director.
Respectfully Submitted

Election News for October 18

Thanks to all the LWW “Stakeholders” and supporters of the voter registration drive last month. We registered forty five (45) residents.

Congratulations to all “early voters”. “Early voting” ends October 31, 2008 at the Board of Elections, Pio Nono and Eisenhower Parkway office. Early voting is encouraged because it allows time to correct any unforeseen problems that could prevent you from casting your vote.

The LWW club house is the polling location for all LWW residents and will be Tuesday November 4, 2008 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Return trip rides will be provided from the parking lots to the club house door, for those needing it. Be reminded that campaign shirts, hats pins, etc can not be worn into the polling location. These are options for casting your vote, but please be sure to vote using the option which is most convenient for you.

The LWW public town hall meeting is on track for Monday October 27, 2008 at 7 p.m. I encourage you to come out and let the candidates know what you want from them for the vote you have cast, or will be casting. Remember that the public is also invited to participate in this forum.

We have begun preparing for our annual election of board members for 2009. Stay tuned for developments and begin thinking about your candidacy or encouraging friends or family to participate. That’s a wrap.

August 31st, 2008

Greetings from the Election Committee

I am Norman Brown and I have lived on Confederate Drive since November 2006. I had one unsuccessful run to be a board member in 2007. I have asked many residents about how to get involved with my new home community. The most memorable response came from a board member who suggested involving myself in “whatever you feel passionate about”.

I chose the Election Committee because of my current involvement and passion for politics. I understand the historical role and responsibility of the Election Committee for the process to elect the board of directors. My vision for the committee is an expanded one that will unite us politically to take advantage of our vote rich environment to realize quality of life gains for LWW residents.

In our first meeting we (Ann, Judy, Wayne and Me) decided to organize a training session, led by Jerry Oliver, on the process used earlier this year, in order to have election results available for the March 28, 2009 Annual Meeting.

I need volunteers to man a space, dates to be decided, at the clubhouse three days a week from Monday September 15 to October 6, 2008, 4-7 p.m. to register LWW residents to vote in the November 4, 2008 election.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER VOTED AT THE LWW POLLING PLACE YOU MUST REGISTER!!!! !!! The plan is to use our collective voting power to make our voices heard. THE MORE REGISTERED VOTERS, THE LOUDER OUR VOICE.

The Neighborhood Watch and Election Committees are working together to have LWW Townhouse meetings in September and October to give residents an opportunity to present concerns to candidates for Sheriff and County Commissioner. We can also invite the successful candidates back for future meetings. HIGH VOTER REGISTRATION NUMBERS AT LWW WILL CERTAINLY GET THE ATTENTION OF CANDIDATES AND THOSE ELECTED LATER.

I NEED AN ARMY OF RESIDENTS TO HELP CREATE A SAFE PLACE FOR: 1) parents to walk their child in a stroller; 2) skateboarders to skate; 3) bicyclers to ride; walkers to walk (themselves and pets); and picnicers to picnic. OUR NARROW ROADS ARE UNSAFE FOR PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC.

I intend to challenge our political leaders to help us identify partners that can help make things happen for this community.

I EXTEND A PERSONAL INVITATION TO ALL RESIDENTS TO BECOME A LWW STAKEHOLDER (especially our young people); CONTRIBUTING TO IMPROVING LWW QUALITY OF LIFE.
