Pool Closed Aug 27-28

Due to a crack in the pressure line for the filter system, we had to close the pool for this weekend.  The pipe should be repaired this week and we fully expect the pool to be open for the holiday weekend.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.  We plan to have the complete system inspected and repaired as required during the off season to minimize the possibilities of these issues resurfacing next pool season.

The Lake Maintenance Valve

From Mike Kasko, Board President:

In anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Irene as projected by the National Weather Service, we ordered the valve on the lake opened. 24 hours after the valve was opened, the National weather service changed the projected track of the hurricane well east of Georgia. The valve was immediately ordered closed. Unfortunately, when the valve was opened, the current sucked some debris into the valve opening and caused the valve to hang up. The valve was stopped immediately at the 25% open position and the contractor was called. An inspection of the valve started immediately and the underwater work began today to clear the mechanism and determine if anything was damaged by the debris.

We will have the valve back in service as soon as possible. There was no way for anyone to know that there was debris in the vicinity of the valve before opening it. The operation of the valve in no way had any effect on this incident. Everything was done properly on time and as requested. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will have the lake back to normal as soon as we can.
