Wow! What an exciting month of July! I am so proud of all of the accomplishments we have made in such a short period of time. I am thankful for everyone who has worked hard and volunteered in all committees and activities all over LWW!
The July 4th Beach Party was an incredible success. We had over 300 people at the beach eating hotdogs and hamburgers gazing at the beautiful fireworks. I was overwhelmed when I saw the standing-room-only turnout. What an incredible night for our families!
Our first Biggest Loser Finale took place on July 12, and DANIEL HART won the first place prize! Pastor Paul and his wife Elizabeth were second and third place winners. Congratulations to everyone who participated in this feat of deprivation and ultimate victory. Can you believe we lost over 245 lbs as a group?? Thanks again to all of our generous sponsors that helped make this contest such a success. Our new BIGGEST LOSER contest will start on Saturday, September 6th at 10a.m. The signup fee is $20.00 and that will give you a blue t-shirt and a goody bag full of incentive prizes from the local vendors. We already have over a $1000.00 in mystery prizes donated as of right now! Email me at harrelloffice@yahoo.com for more details and look on the marquee for the signup dates.
The Summer Reading Program is going great and winding down. Thanks again, Julie Patterson, for taking your time every Friday to enrich our children. The reading room will be closed when school starts back. If anyone would like to help with some activities for our school age children, please contact me. I would love to put you to work.
The Women in Power class taught by Todd Warner was very successful. The participants were pumped up when they finished, and I heard that many went home and showed their moves to their husbands! Thanks, Todd, for making this available to our community, and we look forward to Todd’s future classes.
The Beastly Beauty Pageant was a hoot!! I’m not sure the community was ready for the beasties who competed. (Some observers complained of temporary blindness.) The clubhouse was decked with lights throughout, elegant candlelit tables, and a crowd pleasing menu which helped the suffering from sidesplitting laughter!! Thank you, Tracy Weekly, for chairing this event and putting all of us to work. Thanks to everyone who donated, worked, served, cooked and participated. We all agree this will be an annual event!!
Also remember that we have two ongoing fundraisers. We are still collecting aluminum cans and collecting ink cartridges and supplies we can turn into Ecophone. Please e-mail me for more info harrelloffice@yahoo.com
Here are some of the upcoming events for August. Please mark your calendars.
Starting August 5th Nikki Oliver is teaching an Exercise Class for residents on Tuesday evening at 6:30 in the exercise room at the clubhouse. Nikki worked with us during the Biggest Loser contest and she is awesome. The cost will be an extremely affordable $2.00 per resident per class. Thanks Nikki for helping us!
We will be having a BACK TO SCHOOL BEACH BASH on Friday August 15th from 6-9p.m. This is a family event for all ages. We will have hotdogs, drinks, and the ever popular prizes! Everyone drop by for this family-focused event and play some volleyball and Frisbee or just crash.
LWW Business Owners Group meeting arranged by Gerry Wynn and Wes Herndon will be held for the business owners of LWW on August 12th in the reading room at the clubhouse. If you are a business owner, please try to attend. These guys have some great ideas for promoting our local businesses within our community.
Potluck dinner will be held on August 28th. Please bring your favorite dish to share and come meet your neighbors. This is not a political event or a committee event. It is a time to meet your neighbors. We always hold our recreation meeting at 7p.m. following the dinner, but although you are very welcome, it is not mandatory that you stay for the meeting. We eat at 6:00, and the food is wonderful!
We will be hosting a Labor Day Community Beach party so look for those details. If you have a boat and would be willing to give residents boat rides during this event, please let me know. There are a lot of people who live here that have never been on the Lake! Unbelievable!
Let me know if you have any ideas that you think would be great for our community. My goal is to bring ALL of LWW together and make this the best place in Middle Georgia to be homeowners!
Together We Can!!
