November 2010 site changes

We’ve made some changes to the Docs area of the Lake Wildwood website. Several months of Board meeting minutes [both internal and open] have been reposted, plus the Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Bylaws, and Code of Conduct have been reposted into a new top-of page heading called “Core Documents“.

You will see an entry for each month of the year where the docs are stashed – each is a pdf file.

Another new feature is the “list of Docs” link at the top of the page. This will give you a list of all the documents stashed in this section of the website, in order of category.

Just added: Emergency Management

I just completed adding a new section to the site for the Emergency Management team that’s become active. There’s a lot we can do in advance to prepare for emergencies (hey, we’ve had tornadoes, a hurricane, floods, and even a bit o’ snow before!).

This team is getting training and getting organized – keep an eye, or get involved!

CH99 news

Just posted video from last summer’s videogame tournament onto CH99. It’s under 5 minutes long.

Apologies for how long it took – it took some time for the files to get relayed to me, and there was a fair amount of transcoding and editing that needed to be done to the video.

Site Updates

I just added the names of the new board members, and updated (on the back end) the emails. The Contact forms on this site should be forwarded to the correct people, so feel free to use them!

As always, please let me know of any problems or issues or ideas!

Update on the Reconstruction

Almost done! The latest progress includes making some of the contact forms active (specifically Board of Directors – the entire Board gets these, Main Contact from – which goes to the front office, and Management – which goes to Simone from LS management).

Known problems yet to be resolved include the calendar not showing the events inside the actual calendar (however, they DO show up in “The List”), and the RSS feed is still a bit wonky.

Another issue is that we need some writers! If you have an interest in letting people know what’s happening in a particular area, let either the webmaster or the Board of Directors know! (You can check out the Author Help page for an idea of how you add content to this site – it’s easy!)

Update on Progress

After much sweat and mental agonizing, I’m finally down to the last steps at rebuilding the site. Woohoo!

I’ll be resetting the user accounts so other people can add material to the site – and hopefully we can all start working on adding the LWW site to our respective workflows so it becomes the online information hub for the community.

Every LWW committee can use a writer/editor who is responsible for making sure their portion of the website is up-to-date with the latest news and information. If there’s an area you are interested in, let me or someone on the committee know! (or even the Board – believe me, they are all INVOLVED!).

The more people we have adding material to the site, the more useful it will become. As webmaster, I can’t BEGIN to know everything that’s going on!!

If you’d like to know about about how to add stuff to the site, I have already prepared an “author help” entry, complete with links to some cheap videos.

Hello LWW!

Welcome to the Lake Wildwood webmaster section. This area will be used for hints, instructions, and stuff so people will know how the site is organized, how to best use the site, how to contact the webmaster, and even explain how they can get the latest news automatically.

The catch?

We have to be diligent about updating the site!

Let’s see what the “Add Media” button does:
